Do you believe in supporting local
growers, in live-able neighborhoods, in strong schools, in
supporting other co-ops or in programs that make this community
an even better place to live?
So do we.
And do you ever feel the amount of money you can contribute to
any of these local efforts is no more than a drop in the bucket?
We often do.
But what if we all pooled our money together to benefit some of
these community efforts? What an impact we could make!
That's why we were thrilled to be one of the only two co-ops in 2001 to have received the matching funds grant from the Twin Pines Co-operative Foundation.
The People's Food Co-op took the $5,000 in grant money and added another $5,000 of our own funds to establish The Coulee Region Co-operative Community Fund.
The Coulee Region Co-operative Community Fund works much like any foundation; the Co-op used the grant money to build the amount of monies available, and local organizations can now apply to use the money for a variety of programs in our area. The Coulee Region Co-operative Community Fund (CRCCF) enhances the PFC's ability to positively impact out community, which is a fundamental part of our mission.
