The origin of our bistro’s name is really quite simple. Our dining room overlooks Fifth Avenue and the beautiful, tree-lined, Cameron Park. At Hackberry’s the views of the park and its magnificent hackberry trees are as much a part of the dining experience as the delicious food.  We like the hackberry tree. It is a forgiving tree, familiar to cities in the Midwest, that is well suited for urban landscapes and can tolerate less-than-ideal conditions and yet provide a wonderful shade canopy and visual architecture to its environs.

PFC created Hackberry's Bistro as a compliment to our ever-popular People's Food Coop Deli.  At Hackberry’s we offer a relaxed and comfortable environment where you can slow down to enjoy the artistry of the food and the views from the dining room – a direct counterpoint to the fast-paced environment of our deli. We incorporate local ingredients and organic options throughout the menu. Hackberry's offers a variety of beverages, ranging from fair trade coffees and organic espresso drinks, tea, and soymilk to fine wines, beers and after-dinner drinks.
